Inflight Entertainment System
User Interface Redesign
Lufthansa Airlines
Project Overview:
Brief:
Solo project during second year of degree. It focused on redesigning the Inflight Entertainment System for Lufthansa Airlines.
Problem:
Current design was outdated, difficult for first-time users to navigate, color scheme was off-brand, some common features consumers expected were missing while some features where no longer needed.
Solution:
Instead of starting from zero, I decided to use the current design and deconstruct it to see what was still relevant. It involved taking inventory of current assets such as icons and features, doing consumer and market research to analyze what users expected to see when using the device and to improve users interactive experience. I also analyzed and designed to stay current with market trends in order to bringing a modern aesthetic and stay true to brand placement.

Problem Statement
The task given was to redesign an existing Inflight Entertainment System (IFE) for a current airline. The airline selected was Lufthansa Airlines.
The following is a case-study scenario along with final design iterations. In order to do the redesign, extensive competitive research was made along with research on the current design. Analysis of user testing and current trends were taken into consideration while staying true to the core branding and meeting consumer needs and expectations.
Timeline
The redesign was completed in an 8 week mark.
User Research
Here are parts of the current Lufthansa Airline System.
Mindmap
The mindmap helped to brain dump all of our ideas of what our users think, feel, see and say as well as how would they wish to interact with the IFE system. It helped to figure out some of the features that would be included such as order food/drink to pairing your own cell phone device.
